Edinburgh Community Food Initiative (ECFI) is a citywide, community-based charity, and company limited by public guarantee. The project is managed by a Board of Directors, the members of which have an active connection to local community food activities, or have related experience or expertise in this field.
FUNDING REPRIVE FOR ECFI
Dear ECFI colleagues and supporters,
I'm delighted to be able to inform you that we were awarded an additional £17k by the Council on the 13th March and that we now have a full year award of £37,000 confirmed.
This is, of course, still short of the £40k we had this year and in previous years, and even further short of the £44,775 we asked for. However its significantly better than the £20k for 6 months we were facing in the days running up to the council decision.
In addition, there an indication that we may be able to access the remaining shortfall, up to the level of our full request, from the Capital City Partnership. The final text of the motion passed by the Council says "Council will also assist ECFI in working with the Capital City Partnership to develop a more sustainable forward programme." We plan to use this opportunity to demonstrate the potential of ECFI, and lay out our ambitious plans for the future.
So, ECFI is by no means out of the woods, but I think I can see a clearing ahead...
Many, many thanks to those of you who wrote letters of support and/or gave other assistance in fighting this. It has all helped a great deal and we really value it.
